Truth unites us. While political views may differ, we all share a common thirst for truth. Truth is our guiding light—it has the power to heal divisions and set our nation on the right path forward. Truth Forum began as an intercollegiate organization born out of a deep sense of crisis, recognizing that false narratives and inflammatory politics were eroding the very foundations of the Republic of Korea. We honor the proud history of Korea’s founding and economic development, built through the toil and sacrifice of our forefathers. At the same time, we acknowledge the unfinished task of liberating North Korea. To achieve this, we strongly support the ROK-U.S. alliance, which is rooted in shared values of freedom and truth. We also believe that the impeachment of President Park was unjust, as it was driven by media-driven misinformation and agitation. Truth Forum welcomes all who share our five core beliefs, regardless of religious background, while upholding the Judeo-Christian worldview. Inspired by the Christian conservative movement, which continues to play a pivotal role in Western conservatism—including in the United States—we are committed to research, education, and advocacy. Our mission is to cultivate ideas, shape policies, and develop the next generation of leaders across all sectors of society, ultimately growing into a premier think tank. Thank you. David Eunkoo KimPresident, Truth Forum Our Belief 1. Recognizing the Foundations of the Republic of Korea South Korea’s birth and rise is nothing short of a miracle—a story that stands as one of the most remarkable chapters in world history. Emerging from the devastation of World War II, the Republic of Korea was founded under the leadership of visionary figures like Syngman Rhee, guided by divine providence. Unlike North Korea, which embraced totalitarianism, South Korea chose the path of liberal democracy and a free-market economy, paving the way for unprecedented growth and prosperity. Management guru Peter Drucker, often called “the man who invented management,” once described South Korea’s economic transformation under President Park Chung-hee as “the greatest miracle of mankind since World War II.” Indeed, the Republic of Korea’s success is a testament to the power of freedom, hard work, and leadership. Yet, despite this extraordinary legacy, there are forces that seek to distort and undermine the very foundations of our nation. It is our responsibility to preserve and pass down the truth—to ensure that future generations understand the sacrifices and achievements of those who built this great nation. 2. The Liberation of North Korea Right now, at this very moment, horrific crimes against humanity are being systematically committed across North Korea. No other regime in the modern world matches its scale of oppression and brutality. For over three generations, the Kim family dictatorship has maintained the world’s longest-running totalitarian state, crushing the basic rights and freedoms of its people. The United Nations Commission of Inquiry has officially documented these atrocities, leaving no doubt about the regime’s crimes. Yet, despite this undeniable reality, there are still pro-North sympathizers within South Korea who turn a blind eye to the suffering of the North Korean people. Through misguided policies like the so-called "Sunshine Policy," they have effectively enabled the dictatorship to survive while prolonging the misery of millions. The liberation of North Korea is not just a moral imperative—it is the unfinished mission of our nation. Truth Forum is committed to raising awareness of North Korea’s human rights crisis, exposing those who defend or excuse the regime, and working with the international community to bring freedom to the people of North Korea. 3. The Strength of the ROK-US Alliance At Truth Forum, we firmly support a strong ROK-US alliance, which stands as the bedrock of South Korea’s national security. This alliance is not just a military partnership—it is a bond of shared values, built on a deep commitment to freedom and truth. The United States’ sacrifice for these ideals on the Korean Peninsula has not been in vain. The ROK-US alliance was forged in blood, and South Korea’s success today would not have been possible without America’s steadfast commitment. As allies, we must continue to move forward together, upholding the values that have made both our nations strong. The Soviet Union, once our common enemy, has long collapsed into the ashes of history. But new threats have emerged, using the very freedoms of democracy to weaken us from within. In South Korea, socialist forces, fused with romantic nationalism, have worked to glorify the slave-state of North Korea, fueling anti-American sentiment and attacking the foundations of free democracy and the market economy. In the United States, socialism has rebranded itself, exploiting resentment and division under the guise of “love” and “peace” to push populist policies that threaten individual freedoms. We must recognize and resist these threats together. The United States must also pay close attention to the political turmoil in South Korea. The battle being fought here is not just about Korea—it is about the fundamental values that define both our nations. The struggle for truth and freedom in Korea is directly tied to America’s own identity and mission. The fate of our shared values will shape the future of both countries, and we must stand united in defending them. 4. Recognizing the Crisis of Our Time Truth Forum was founded in response to the impeachment crisis, recognizing the serious flaws in the process and raising our voices against them. Forces that seek to undermine or even overthrow the Republic of Korea continue to exploit political and social issues to erode or replace our national identity. The impeachment of President Park Geun-hye was one such event within this broader movement. We all remember the sensationalized false reports that dominated the media. But where was the sex tape that was supposedly so damning? Where was the 88 trillion won slush fund that was said to exist? Neither was ever found. Without an honest reflection on how this media-driven impeachment unfolded, true political reform in South Korea will remain out of reach. The National Assembly caved to media pressure, rushing to approve the impeachment motion without verifying the facts. The Constitutional Court, instead of upholding justice, relied on false reports to make a politically charged ruling. Worse yet, we have witnessed ideologically biased legal professionals using the courts as political tools—ignoring facts, pushing distorted historical narratives, and threatening Korea’s very identity in the name of misguided justice. Now is the time to face reality and stand together against falsehoods. Political opinions may differ, but our debates must be rooted in truth. The media, in particular, should serve as a neutral platform for truth, free from political manipulation. However, during the impeachment crisis, the massive Taegeukgi rallies—which reflected the voices of millions—were completely distorted or ignored by the press. Truth Forum continues to speak out against the impeachment of President Park because we refuse to forget how falsehoods were used to manipulate the people. We believe in a society that is built on truth, not deception. South Korea is far too vulnerable to orchestrated propaganda that turns the nation against itself. And if we do not recognize this crisis, it will happen again. Now, more than ever, we must be aware of the reality we face and work together to defend the truth. 5. Christian Conservatism Rooted in the Judeo-Christian Worldview Truth Forum upholds Christian conservatism, firmly grounded in the Judeo-Christian worldview. While our activities are open to all, we invite those who understand and respect this foundation to join us. Christian conservatism is built on three fundamental principles: The dignity of human beings, created in the image of God. Responsible freedom, with the understanding that all will ultimately face divine judgment. Absolute truth, free from deception or distortion. Rather than blindly trusting human reason to construct some man-made utopia, Christian conservatism humbly acknowledges human limitations and recognizes that there are realms in which God is at work beyond human control. If you respect the wisdom of past generations, value real-world results over ideological experiments, and believe in pragmatic and cautious governance, then you are a conservative. Conservatism and the Judeo-Christian Worldview Conservatism, as a political philosophy, began as a response to the secular radicalism of the French Revolution. It was not simply a rejection of change but a defense of God’s truth and natural human rights. Any discussion of conservatism that ignores the Judeo-Christian worldview is incomplete. Even Edmund Burke, the intellectual father of modern conservatism, argued against the Revolutionary preacher Richard Price, pointing out that Price’s ideas conflicted with the biblical principles of love and justice. Conservatism and progressivism are not inherently opposing forces. If conservatism means protecting God's truth and natural rights, then every Christian is a conservative. Likewise, if progressivism means reforming the world according to God's will, then every Christian is also a progressive. True conservatism safeguards the dignity, responsible freedom, and truth upon which meaningful progress can be built. History teaches us that real progress is only possible when these fundamental values are preserved. Defending Human Dignity, Freedom, and Truth Conservatism stands against those who view human beings as mere products of materialistic structures. It proclaims that each person is created in God’s image and possesses inherent dignity. Conservatism also rejects the suppression of individual autonomy, defending the God-given responsibility of freedom against those who seek to impose social engineering and ideological control. Above all, conservatism stands against revolutionaries and opportunists who manipulate the truth for political gain. Conservatism is inseparable from the Judeo-Christian worldview and biblical principles. Strong faith is the foundation of true conservatism. This is why the most aggressive attacks on conservatism often come from liberal theology, which distorts God’s word and replaces it with human-centered righteousness and secular moralism. Liberal Theology and Its Connection to Leftist Ideology Liberal theology has recklessly absorbed Marxist and postmodernist ideas, twisting human reason, emotions, and experiences to reshape Scripture. This distortion has directly fueled leftist political movements. Queer theology manipulates the Bible to justify homosexuality. Liberation theology and minjung theology place the love and care for the marginalized above God’s word, distorting Scripture to fit a socialist agenda. Liberation theology reduces Jesus to a political revolutionary, stripping Him of His divine nature. Liberation theology, often called “Marxism in Christian disguise,” evolved into minjung theology in South Korea, which eventually gave rise to juche theology, glorifying Kim Il-sung as a god-like figure. This ideology, deeply intertwined with North Korean propaganda, serves as a foundation for pro-Kim Il-sung movements under the guise of “people’s democracy.” Restoring the Church and Resisting Deception Confronting the harmful consequences of radical liberal theology is a sacred mission—one that is critical for restoring the Church in Korea and beyond. This fight is not just about theology—it is directly connected to the mission of liberating North Korea and protecting the integrity of our society. One of the most pressing challenges facing the Korean Church today is the issue of the anti-discrimination law. This is not just about homosexuality—it is a spiritual battle against the deliberate distortion of Scripture. The same LGBT movement that reshaped Western Christianity is now facing strong resistance in Korea. This resistance is not accidental—God has given the Korean Church the mission of defending biblical truth against the excesses of liberal theology. Truth Forum will remain steadfast in this fight, upholding biblical truth, the Judeo-Christian worldview, and sound faith.
Martial Law in South Korea: A Rare Move Reflecting Political Turmoil Martial law is an unfamiliar, almost alien concept, especially for the younger generation in South Korea. It's been 46 years since 1979, so it's new to them, and it's a testament to the chaotic political situation in South Korea. It's important to understand exactly what the current political context in South Korea is in relation to Yoon's sudden declaration of martial law. South Korea as America’s Mirror South Korea, in many ways, mirrors the United States. The nation’s first president, Syngman Rhee modeled his country after the United States, founding it on liberal democracy, free market ideas, and a biblical worldview. However, the situation in South Korea is exactly the same as in the United States, where socialist revolutionaries infused with postmodernism and Marxism have taken advantage of the tolerance of democracy to infiltrate all levels of society. In a nutshell, the situation in South Korea is similar to the time when the Democratic Party in the United States was trying to impeach President Trump by spreading fake news. And leftist lawmakers are grossly abusing their legislative power to block the judicial process of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic party, a major opposition force. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a legislative dictatorship. The Democratic Party and the opposition currently hold 192 out of 300 seats. Only eight more seats are needed to amend the constitution. The Paralysis of Governance The left-leaning Democratic Party has effectively paralyzed the Yoon administration. Since President Yoon took office, his government has faced 22 impeachment motions targeting its officials. Within just six months of the 22nd National Assembly’s inauguration, the opposition initiated ten additional retaliatory impeachment motions. These have targeted prosecutors investigating Lee Jae-myung, the Auditor General probing corruption under the Moon Jae-in administration, and key officials such as the Minister of the Interior and Safety, the National Defense Minister, and the Chair of the Broadcasting Commission. With the inclusion of President Yoon Suk-yeol and the ministers of defense and interior, the total number of impeachment motions now stands at 25. Weaponizing the Budget Process South Korea’s constitutional framework tasks the executive with preparing the annual budget, subject to legislative approval as a check. Yet, in a historic first, the opposition-controlled National Assembly unilaterally slashed the government’s proposed budget, crippling initiatives related to national welfare, economic development, and the operational funds of the presidential office, prosecutors, the Board of Audit and Inspection, and the police. By weaponizing the budget process, the opposition has left the Yoon administration facing severe disruptions. Shielding an Opposition Leader Under Fire At the heart of this turmoil is the Democratic Party's effort to shield its leader, Lee Jae-myung, who faces allegations spanning election law violations, corruption, and perjury. His trials have been mired in controversy, including the suspicious deaths of eight individuals linked to his cases. The opposition has even proposed legislative amendments to decriminalize actions central to Lee’s alleged misconduct, further eroding public trust in both the judicial and political systems. Judicial Credibility at Risk South Korea's judiciary has seen a dramatic erosion of public trust. Much like in the United States, its courts and prosecutors are heavily influenced by left-leaning ideologies. Corruption allegations have even reached the Supreme Court, with evidence implicating justices in unethical dealings. One notable example is Lee Jae-myung, who narrowly avoided a conviction for illegally institutionalizing his brother—an unexpected Supreme Court acquittal that paved the way for his 2020 presidential run. The presiding justice in that case is now under investigation for alleged ties to Lee’s corruption scandal. Biased Media and Narratives South Korea’s media landscape reflects the same polarized dynamics seen in the United States. Major outlets and broadcasting unions, many tied to the militant Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, are dominated by leftist groups. This dominance ensures that left-leaning narratives prevail, while conservative or patriotic perspectives are largely suppressed. Even media branded as "conservative" often fail to challenge this status quo effectively, leaving international audiences with a narrow and skewed understanding of South Korea’s political context. The Purpose of Martial Law: Restoring Integrity There is ongoing debate over whether President Yoon’s declaration of martial law was the right decision. However, Yoon has been clear about its purpose: to crush pro-North anti-state forces and protect South Korea’s free constitutional order. According to him, martial law was necessary to counter those seeking to overthrow the nation’s democratic system. This context is not without precedent. Just over a decade ago, when Kim Jong-un announced the abrogation of the armistice, some South Korean lawmakers secretly declared their intent to align with the North in the event of war, vowing to drive out South Korea's reactionaries and American imperialists. The Constitutional Court dissolved the United Progressive Party over such actions, yet its ideological successors have resurfaced. The Progressive Party, registered in 2017, traces its roots to the disbanded organization and now collaborates with the Democratic Party in the National Assembly. Similarly, the Gyeonggi East Alliance, known as Lee Jae-myung’s action arm, shares these affiliations. Mainstream left-leaning media have cast Yoon’s martial law declaration as an attempt to deflect from controversies surrounding First Lady Kim Gun-hee. Yet this broader context, critical to understanding the decision, has been largely ignored. The Shadow of Election Fraud Although not explicitly stated in the martial law declaration, it has become evident that one of its primary purposes is to investigate election fraud. Following the declaration, the military assumed control of the Central Election Commission and related institutions. Former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, involved in the implementation of martial law, stated in media interviews that the measures were necessary to address widespread suspicions of electoral fraud. But was such a drastic measure truly necessary? Since 2020, South Korea has faced persistent allegations of election fraud, much like the controversies seen in the United States. The April 2020 parliamentary elections sparked widespread claims of irregularities. The Moon Jae-in government, along with left-leaning media, dismissed these accusations as conspiracy theories. The People Power Party, often classified as a conservative party and currently the ruling party, also followed suit, marginalizing those who raised concerns by barring them from running for office. Public demands for transparency went largely unanswered. Even under President Yoon's administration, calls for a thorough investigation persisted. Limited investigations and audits of the National Election Commission (NEC) were conducted by the National Intelligence Service and the Board of Audit and Inspection. These efforts revealed critical vulnerabilities in the NEC’s systems, including susceptibility to hacking, as well as extensive illegal activities such as fraudulent hiring practices. In response, calls for a full-scale investigation into election fraud grew louder. However, no further action was taken, leaving only deepening suspicions. This lack of progress stems from the structural characteristics of South Korea’s election system. Structural Challenges to Accountability Under South Korea’s constitution, the National Election Commission (NEC) holds equal status with the executive, legislative, and judicial branches. This elevated position has shielded the NEC from thorough investigations, audits, or oversight. Tasked with interpreting election law and prosecuting violations, the NEC is often considered the institution lawmakers are most wary of confronting. Allegations of fraud are rarely raised, as they are dismissed as conspiracy theories, leaving lawmakers to battle the NEC’s authority. The Supreme Court, responsible for handling election litigation, has also shown reluctance to delve into fraud allegations. Plaintiffs bear the burden of proof, as in standard civil lawsuits, even though fraud can only be definitively assessed through a proper investigation. Adding to the public’s mistrust, city and district election commissions are chaired by chief or vice-chief judges of local courts. There have long been calls for reforming the system in which the judiciary is responsible for both overseeing elections and adjudicating election disputes. This skepticism deepened during the Supreme Court's recount process, where many ballots appeared as crisp and pristine as freshly minted bills, raising concerns. Yet, the court dismissed these issues, further undermining public confidence in its handling of election disputes. Martial Law Becomes the Last Resort for Electoral Integrity People may hold differing views on election fraud, but one principle remains clear: elections are public processes, and the public must be able to verify their integrity. In South Korea, however, this fundamental standard is undermined by a deeply corrupt Election Commission that holds near-total control over the verification process. Even legal challenges have failed to meet public expectations, offering little recourse or transparency. The current situation underscores a sobering reality in South Korea: ensuring electoral integrity appears possible only under the extraordinary measure of martial law. A Defeated Impeachment: A Nation at a Crossroads Last Saturday, the impeachment bill against President Yoon Seok-yul was defeated. A two-thirds majority was required, but the People Power Party boycotted the vote, leaving only 195 lawmakers in attendance, which prevented the vote from proceeding. While the immediate crisis has been averted, South Korea remains mired in political turmoil and prolonged instability. As the purpose of the current martial law becomes increasingly clear—to investigate allegations of election fraud—the long-suppressed controversy surrounding electoral integrity is expected to resurface with renewed intensity. The History War: Revisionist Narratives in Politics South Korea is, in many ways, in the midst of a de facto civil war—a fierce ideological battle over its historical identity. For decades, South Korea has been grappling with what some call a "history war." Much like the American left’s embrace of a revisionist narrative that frames the United States as a nation built on the exploitation of slaves, the South Korean left promotes the view that South Korea’s founding was illegitimate, portraying it as the work of pro-Japanese collaborators under U.S. influence. Two former presidents, Roh Moo-hyun and Moon Jae-in, have publicly endorsed this perspective, which has fostered hostility toward the United States and sympathy for North Korea and China. Alarmingly, this narrative is embraced by a significant number of opposition lawmakers, including many in the Democratic Party of Korea. During the Moon administration, the party appointed Lee Rae-kyung as head of the Innovation Commission. Lee, who advocates for a controversial "new centennial theory," claimed that South Korea’s modern history is tainted by submission to the United States and called for the creation of a new historical framework. His appointment was met with widespread criticism, forcing him to resign, but his views remain influential within certain circles. A Call for Vigilance and Partnership South Korea's patriotic conservatives strongly support President Trump, viewing the last U.S. presidential election as critical to preserving the founding ideals of a nation rooted in a biblical worldview. They recognize that postmodernism and Marxism have deeply distorted America's identity and founding principles, and they see the fight to correct these distortions as equally vital for South Korea. The ideological waves originating from the United States inevitably influence South Korea, often with damaging consequences. Moreover, the evolution of Marxism—through postmodernism, political correctness, woke politics, and critical theory—has served as intellectual fuel for pro-North Korea and pro-China factions within South Korea. For now, South Korea must navigate this turbulent chapter. To my American friends, I extend a straightforward request: look past the left-leaning, one-sided narratives of South Korea's mainstream media and critically examine the reality on the ground. In these decisive times, choose your partners with care and foresight. 2024.12.10 David Eunkoo Kim Founder & President, Truth Forum Founded in 2017 at Seoul National University, Truth Forum is South Korea's foremost conservative organization, dedicated to upholding a Judeo-Christian worldview. c TRUTH FORUM Statement delivered at Press Conference on Feb 26, 2018 1. PyeongChang ‘Peace Olympics’ is a fraud! We denounce the Moon Jae-in administration for using the Olympic Games to make false peace with North Korea. The Munich Agreement that appeased Hitler for peace ended up in failure, which is followed by the Second World War. Likewise, while bluntly ignoring the realities of the totalitarian slave-state of North Korea and its devastating human rights violations, the Moon administration’s false peace narrative with North Korea is putting our national security and our liberal democratic system at tremendous risk. The Moon administration’s policy of appeasement has also been counterproductive to the international community’s sanctions against North Korea. We cannot accept the Moon administration’s efforts to turn the PyeongChang Olympics into an event for promoting North Korea’s propaganda at the risk of undermining ROK-US alliance. Furthermore, inviting the hardline North Korean general Kim Yong-chol, who is responsible for the attack on the Cheonan battleship and Yeonpyeong island that killed fifty sailors, soldiers, and civilians, is an unacceptable insult not only to the family of the deceased but to the South Korean public. 2. The international community should see clearly who president Moon really is and what South Korea’s “democratic movement” of the 1980s was really about. President Moon is commonly introduced as a former democratic activist and human rights lawyer. However, the democratic movement of the 1980s in South Korea should not be praised uncritically because the movement at its core had North Korea’s Kim Il Sung Juche ideology followers, who sought to subvert the liberal democratic system and market economy of the Republic of Korea. The international community should be aware of the fact that there are many groups and organizations that are taking advantage of the freedom and tolerance of liberal democracy to take root in our society under the guidance of the North Korean regime and its ideology. These groups consider the US to be the cause of Korea’s division, and devalue American support for building our liberal democratic institution as a mere ploy of American capitalist imperialism. Hence, they deny the values and principles of the liberal democracy of the Republic of Korea and denounce its rapid economic growth and societal progress of the last 70 years. Even though they take advantage of all the freedom and rights to live and prosper in this state system, they deny the very origin and identity of our liberal democratic republic. Their version of democracy is that of the people’s democracy of North Korea, which is not about the people, but this fact has been over-shadowed by the so-called “democratic movement” which continues to create confusion in South Korea on what liberal democracy really means. The international community should recall the cases of West Germany and South Vietnam. Gunter Guillaume, who was a close aide of the Chancellor Willy Brandt of West Germany, turned out to be a secret agent of East Germany. South Vietnam’s presidential candidate in 1967 was later revealed to be a communist spy. There is a grave concern among many South Koreans that the Republic of Korea may be facing a similar attempt at subversion by the North Korea followers in South Korea. 3. We urge the Moon administration to stop its efforts to change the Constitution. Constitutional reform should be carried forward when there is sufficient political stability and social consensus. The South Korean society is now severely divided since the impeachment of our president merely a year ago. Many are furiously concerned by the Moon administration for its socialist leanings and outright pro-North Korea stances. The Moon administration’s anxious attempt to change our Constitution in the midst of all this commotion is completely unreasonable. Moreover, risks and threats to the international community are at their highest due to North Korea’s nuclear weapons. Given both our internal and external circumstances we face today, there are no reasonable grounds to push ahead for a Constitutional reform at this vulnerable stage. In fact, there are sincere concerns that such a rash reform effort may be hijacked by those who seek to subvert our liberal democratic free market system. Already, the Constitutional reform drafts propose to delete “liberal” from “liberal democracy,” the very foundational concept of freedom that defines the Republic of Korea, which separates it from North Korea. The Moon administration should stop aggravating political instability and social commotion, and instead focus on strengthening our national security and liberal democratic values. We demand the Moon Jae-in administration and the national assembly to immediately stop its efforts to change our Constitution! 4. We call for a strong ROK-US alliance The alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea is forged in blood. Without the sacrifice of the American people, the Republic of Korea would not exist today. Their noble sacrifices to secure our lives and freedom have not been in vain. Many South Korean people are furious against the Moon administration for its attempts to damage this ROK-US alliance. We sincerely insist that the US to continue to cooperate with the South Korean people who support Korea’s reunification under the principle of freedom and liberal democracy which is shared by the American people, and to unite with our efforts to liberate the people of North Korea. Weakening of the ROK-US alliance will prove to be a loss for the American people as well. In particular, we are deeply concerned by the mistaken cooperation between the progressives of the two countries. The American progressives are seemingly cooperating with the “progressives” of South Korea under the value of progress. However, the American people should realize that the so-called “progressives” in South Korea are nothing but. South Korean progressives are led by Jusapa, the followers of North Korean ideologies who hold strong grudge against the US. While they speak about the general human rights, they utterly ignore the grave human rights violations that are being committed in North Korea. Moreover, they have been inciting anti-American sentiments in South Korea to weaken the ROK-US alliance, and they capitalize on the American progressives to influence the American media and its politics. We strongly urge the US to stop assisting those who deny American values and principles. We also insist the US to bring North Korean regime followers who live and operate within its US borders, such as Minjok Tongshin(www.minjok.com), to justice! 5. It is now time to liberate North Korea. Liberate North Korea! The Korean War was a half-achieved victory that left the northern half of the Korean peninsula and its people under the tyranny of communists. That unclaimed territory has now become the world’s most brutal slave-state. And this slave-state is now threatening the international community with nuclear weapons. It is time to declare freedom and truth in the northern half of the Korean peninsula and liberate the people from the tyranny of a one-man totalitarian regime. This is a call of a mankind for the international community, under the universal values of human rights and the responsibility to protect, to come to rescue! Liberate North Korea! TRUTH FORUM and its members will continue to hold fast to the above statements and strive to restore the freedom and truth in the Republic of Korea, eventually to achieve liberation of our people in North Korea. We will work our way till the day when Korean peninsula stand strong on the value of freedom, liberty and justice. 2018. 2. 26 TRUTH FORUM – TRUTH ALLIANCE of forty-three university organizations of Korea truthforum.kr@gmail.com * TRUTH FORUM is a student organization that started at Seoul National University in 2017. It had 43 TRUTH FORUMs of different universities in South Korea, forming the TRUTH ALLIANCE at the time of this statement in February 2018. It has expanded to over 70 universities since then.
Truth Forum Statement in Opposition to the Constitutional Amendment TRUTH FORUM welcomes the news of the failure of the Moon administration in its attempt to change the Constitution within this coming June. The Constitution that embodies the Magna Carta should not be changed abruptly. A Constitutional amendment should be carried out when there are sufficient political stability and social integration. Since the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye, the Korean public is divided in half, and there are widespread disappointment and distrust towards the government and politics. As such, it is neither reasonable nor appropriate to discuss the constitutional amendment at this time. Furthermore, North Korea's nuclear threat has reached an unprecedented level, and there is no legitimate ground to hastily push for a constitutional amendment at this point, given the complicated and risky circumstance. The Moon administration should focus on normalizing socio-political situation, which has been mired by agitation and confusion rather than aggravating them further by discussing the constitutional amendment. TRUTH FORUM urges the government to terminate all discussions regarding the constitutional amendment and announces the following statements. 1. We call for a thorough investigation into the illicit online opinion-manipulation scandal, by ‘Druking.’ The act of distorting online public opinion in favor of Moon has severely damaged the foundation of democracy. The act of manipulating the public opinion to find support for and to legitimize the current and future government policies is a serious fraud scheme. The online opinion-rigging scandal, now widely known as ‘Druking Scandal,’ has revealed the fact that the public has been instigated and public opinion has been manipulated, which in turn raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the impeachment of President Park and the19th Presidential Election. A special investigation of the government and those involved in the scandal is necessary. For this reason, it is inappropriate to discuss constitutional revision at this time! 2. We strongly oppose the constitutional amendment proposed by North Korea sympathizers. Cho Kook, the current secretary of civil affairs in the Blue House, was involved in the case of the ‘South Korean Socialist Workers Alliance’ that sought a socialist revolution in South Korea in the early 1990s. Jeong Hae- gu, the head of the Special Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Revision, is widely known for his pro-North stance. He openly denies the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea and instead acknowledges that of the North. We cannot trust any of the constitutional revision proposals made by those North Korea sympathizers, who have long strived to bring the North Korean regime to South Korea. It is highly conceivable that the foundational basis of the ROK can be distorted and destroyed in the hands of those pro-North parties, under the name of a constitutional revision. 3. North Korea is an anti-human rights regime! We oppose Federalist Reunification of the ROK and the DPRK! Kim Jong-un’s totalitarian regime in the North is, without doubt, an anti-humanitarian regime. The United Nations has confirmed this fact through its Commission of Inquiry (COI) report. Reunification based on federalism means acknowledging or accepting this totalitarian slave-state as it is. The Federalist Reunification that approves of the North Korean regime is unacceptable! It is tantamount to becoming an accomplice to the crimes against humanity. We strongly oppose the provincial decentralization, one of the highly controversial items among Moon administration’s constitutional revision proposals, which would pave the road to Federalist Unification! 4. We stand in complete opposition to all plans of the constitutional amendment! We oppose partial revisions and a promise of the deadline set for constitutional changes! A Constitutional amendment should not take place under the pro-North Moon administration. Promising a time limit to the amendment is not proper as well. We also oppose the partial revisions on specific items, which can be detrimental. A secret pursuit of the parliamentary government system to aid partisan politics will only deepen the mistrust against the National Assembly. Therefore, we strongly request a ‘Commitment of Opposition to the Constitutional Amendment’ from each member of The Liberty Korea Party, and we summon the citizens of this nation to join us for this call! 5. There is a great concern about Inter-Korean Summit prepared by the pro-North government! The Inter-Korean Summit should ensure improvements in human rights situations in North Korea and achieve a complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization. If the Inter-Korean Summit creates discord in the ROK-US alliance with false peace moves and propagandizes the anti-human rights regime of North Korea, the South Korean government will face grave consequences both domestically and internationally. The ultimate liberalization of North Koreans and liberal unification of the Korean peninsula are the foundational values of the Constitution of the Republic of Korea since its very establishment in 1948. For this reason, there is significant concern over the current pro-North Moon administration which neglects the reality of North Korea and blindly pursues ‘peace treaty’ in vanity, which in turn can destroy the very grounds of our Constitution. 6. Bring forth polices for Reunified ROK! A state that commits crime against humanity will fall to its doom. It is a call for justice under the universal values of human rights. Now is the time to liberate North Korea that is held hostage under the ideological deception of ‘Kim Il-sung Juche ideology.’ Given the devastating conditions under which the people of North Korea are suffering, the collapse of the North Korean regime is inevitable. We cannot delay liberation of North Korea any longer with false peace moves. The National Assembly shall immediately stop discussions on the Constitutional reform, and make concerted efforts to provide practical measures to liberate North Koreans! Moreover, we urge the Members of the Assembly to bring forth policies for Reunified Korea which will lay the foundation of the unified Republic of Korea. Truth Forum Statement Congratulating President Trump on His Re-election We extend our sincere congratulations on the re-election of President Donald Trump and hope that America will be restored and be great again on the foundation of universal values. Trump's election has exposed the abysmal state of the Korean media, and it is very disappointing to see that Korean media outlets are copying the left-leaning narratives of the American mainstream media. Due to these negative portrayals, a negative perception of President Trump is dominant among the public, even within conservative groups in South Korea. However, the true significance of this election transcends politics; it concerns the survival and renewal of America as a nation founded on a biblical worldview and committed to universal values. Postmodernism and Marxism, wrapped in the guise of equality and human rights, have seriously distorted America's identity and founding principles. Unless corrected, America will crumble from within and lose the systematic war against the Chinese Communist Party. President Trump’s re-election reflects an awakening among Americans who have recognized these pressing challenges. We look forward to a fundamental restoration of America, based on universal values. South Korea will face many challenges. However, the restoration and renewal of the United States will be an opportunity for South Korea to renew its identity, which has been distorted by postmodernism and Marxism. If we focus on universal values with the United States, the ROK-US alliance will rise to a new level, and together with America, we will make Korea great again. And we must seize this opportunity as a stepping stone toward the liberation and unification of North Korea. This is our mission, and whether we can achieve this ultimately depends on our collective resolve. We sincerely congratulate President Trump on his re-election and bless and pray for the restoration and renewal of a great America—united on the foundation of universal values, beyond Republicans and Democrats. November 7, 2024 Truth Forum David Eunkoo Kim President, Founder *Truth Forum, founded in 2017 at Seoul National University, is South Korea's pioneering conservative organization grounded in a Judeo-Christian worldview. We are dedicated to advancing values such as Pro-Life, Pro-Family, Pro-Freedom, Pro-Market, Pro-Korea, Pro-North Korea Human Rights, Pro-Israel, and Pro-ROK-US Alliance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As we release the above congratulatory statement on President Trump’s re-election, we would also like to share the public statement issued on November 7, 2017, during President Donald Trump’s visit to South Korea. This statement arose from a profound sense of crisis concerning the pro-North leftist Moon administration, which sought to undermine South Korea's identity through deceptive propaganda. It served as a message to our friends in the United States, revealing the true nature of the Moon administration. Truth Forum Statement Welcoming President Trump's Visit to South Korea and Raising Awareness of Korea's Critical Situation We welcome the official visit of President Donald Trump to Korea and kindly send this message to the American people. This is our earnest plea and notice to our dear Americans, 1. Please refrain from supporting anti-US groups and avoid issuing green cards or visas to their members. 2. The Republic of Korea is now in danger because itis occupied by Juche ideology followers. 3. The majority of Koreans support and love the US 4. Now is the time to declare freedom and truth and liberate the people in the slave country, North Korea. For further details, please see below. --- Dear American friends, We sincerely welcome President Donald Trump to the Republic of Korea, the President of the United States of America, our strongest ally. As North Korea is acting recklessly, how the United States thinks and determines will have a major impact on us. We therefore believe it is necessary to raise our voices representing the silent majority and intellectuals, which may not necessarily be the same as the voice of Korea’s mainstream media, or even that of the “candlelight mob” known to the Americans. President Moon is known as a democratic activist and human rights lawyer. However, we cannot simply praise him and the democratic movements of the Republic of Korea because it is led by Juche ideology followers. Some people naively regard these leftists as democratic activists pursuing social progress. However, these leftists, who led the ‘student democracy movement’ in the 80s and the 90s, are the followers of the Juche ideology, which is a variation of Marxism and the official state ideology of North Korea. They regard the US as the instigator responsible for the division of Korean peninsula, and the agent of capitalism and imperialism. Furthermore, they deny the legitimacy of the Republic of Korea which was established by the support of the US. These people have been active under the generous framework of the democratic Korean society calling themselves ‘democratic activist’, ‘liberals’, ‘progressive-leftist’, etc. In disguise, they infiltrated into respective areas of Korean society, including politics, journalism, labor unions, education and even judiciary. Large scale anti-government protests, such as Mad Cow case or Korea-US FTA, were made possible because they have been expressing anti-US and anti-capitalism sentiments in Korea for many years. Finally, they succeeded in taking over the government by the impeachment with fabricated information regarding President Park Geun-hye. President Moon appointed most of the secretaries of the Blue House with Juche ideology followers, including the Chief Presidential Secretary. Moreover, in this dangerous situation for South Korea, he has been against deploying the THAAD system causing cracks in the Korea-US alliance. In addition, he abstained from the recent voting of the UN resolution L19 and L35. In the middle of the 90s, Hwang Jang-yeop, a North Korean defector as the highest government official, testified, “There are 50,000 resident spies in the Republic of Korea, even at the core of the government body”. In Germany, Günter Guillaume, secretary to Willy Brandt, was found to be a spy. So was Trương Đình Dzu, who slightly lost the presidential election of the South Vietnam. Similar cases will be revealed in the Unified Korea which is to come in a near future. This is our earnest plea and notice to our dear Americans, 1. Please refrain from supporting anti-US groups and avoid issuing green cards or visas to their members. Americans, especially liberals and their media, tend to cooperate with so-called progressive-leftist groups in Korea to achieve mutual liberal values. However, please be noted that the leftists in Korea are led by anti-US and pro-North Korea groups. It may sound hard to believe but we suggest that it is likely that the US liberals are supporting those who are against the US. Please stop supporting the anti-US groups. 2. The Republic of Korea is now in danger because it is occupied by Juche ideology followers. The impeachment of President Park Geun-hye is not a victory of democracy, but that of Juche ideology followers who took advantage of the generous framework of democracy in the Republic of Korea. Through labor unions, they took control of news and media. With clever fake news and beautiful rhetoric of democracy, they infuriated innocent Koreans and finally took over the presidency of the country. 3. The majority of Koreans support and love the US Your sacrifice in the 50s for the Koreans is noble and highly honored. We will never forget that. The US is our strongest ally and America deserves its due respect for Korea’s marvelous post-war success and prosperity. Unlike what is found in the Korean mainstream media, which is largely controlled by biased leftist, the majority of Korean people still support and appreciate the US as our strongest ally. Many Koreans are worried and against President Moon’s unilateral decisions that weaken the Korea-US alliance. As the falsehood of Juche ideology followers get more exposed to the public, critics of the Moon government will raise more fiercely. 4. Now is the time to declare freedom and truth and liberate the people in the slave country, North Korea. Without the sacrifice of the US, South Korea would not exist. It was a victory that saved the very existence of South Korea. However, it was only half of the people, with the other half of the Korean people left at the mercy of North Korean regime, which turned out to be the worst slave state on this earth and an imminent danger to the whole international society. Now is the time to declare freedom and truth and liberate the people in the slave country, North Korea. This is the most solemn call to humanity of our generation. We pray that the United States and Republic of Korea will achieve this lofty mission and open a new chapter for humanity together. God bless Korea, and God bless our dear friend, America. Truth Forum Statement Against the Queer Festival at Seoul Plaza 1. WE DENOUNCE Seoul municipal government for granting permission for the use of Seoul Plaza for the (19th) Seoul Pride event! More than 210,000 people have signed a petition on the website of the Blue House, opposing the Queer Festival taking place in Seoul Plaza. According to a recent survey of public opinion, 82.9% of Seoul residents view excessive exposure of body parts and selling of sex toys at queer-themed events as inappropriate, 67% showed negative opinions on Seoul city government granting the permission for the event to be held in the Plaza. Activities and performances that harm universal sexual ethics were openly carried out in previous queer-themed events. We strongly denounce the decision of the city government for granting a permit for another Queer-themed event to be held in Seoul Plaza - instead of imposing adequate guidelines – ignoring the voice of its citizens. 2. WE ARE CONCERNED about the participation of university student councils at the Queer Festival! We are concerned about university student councils participating in the Queer Festival. We question their legitimacy as representatives of the entire student bodies and whether they have appropriately processed the opinions of their peers democratically. Some raise concerns over student representatives of their universities’ arbitrary decision makings on their participation in queer-themed events. The opinions of many students who do not agree with queer-themed events that harm healthy sexual ethics are being ignored around many campuses. 3. WE CALL FOR respect for various opinions about homosexuality! Academic and moral opinions on homosexuality should be left to the free judgement of the individual. Condemning different opinions as "hate-speech" and disrupting ex-homosexuals and anti-homosexuality activists from speaking on-campus are serious violations of academic freedom and freedom of expression. Recently, Seoul National University Truth Forum organized a special lecture with an ex-homosexual speaker and was pressured to cancel the venue. Applying views from America and Europe, labeling different opinions about homosexuality as hatred, ignoring traditional values of Korean culture, condemning people with different views as "homophobics" and "unenlightened people" are acts of self-righteousness and a new form of toadyism and cultural imperialism. 4. WE OPPOSE the Human Rights & Gender Equality program of Seoul National University. The Seoul National University Human Rights Centre developed the 'Human Rights & Gender Equality' education program and propagated it to many universities. However, the curriculum of the course is founded on social gender concept that acknowledges dozens of sexual distinctions, disseminates one-sided gender ideology. Presently, the SNU Human Rights Centre is pushing to impose disadvantages on those who do not complete the course. The Human Rights & Gender Equality education program of SNU Human Rights Centre coerces their views on students and SNU members who find the contents of the course to be against their conscience, academical and religious beliefs under the name of human rights. The Human Rights & Gender Equality education program of Seoul National University which spreads gender ideology must be amended or abolished. We express our grave concerns over the Seoul Pride taking place at Seoul Plaza, despite the majority of Seoul residents are against it. We express our grave concerns over ill-considered participation of the student representatives of those universities. We express our grave concerns over SNU Human Rights Center’s deliberate efforts to spread biased gender ideology which prohibits individual discretion on homosexuality. 2018.07.13 Truth Alliance SNU Truth Forum/ KU Truth Forum/ Yonsei Truth Forum / SWU Truth Forum/ Chongshin Truth Forum/ HUFS Truth Forum/ Inha Truth Forum/ KAIST Truth Forum/ Anyang University Truth Forum/ Ewha Truth Forum/ Handong Truth Forum/ Hanyang Truth Forum/ Hongik Truth Forum/ KCU Truth Forum/ KHU Truth Forum/ DST Truth Forum/ Busan University Truth Forum/ Sogang Truth Forum/ Sejong Truth Forum https://www.facebook.com/SNUTRUTHFORUM/posts/955175741310688 *Truth Form was first founded by students and alumni of Seoul National University, in the spring of 2017.
