Truth Forum Statement Against the Queer Festival at Seoul Plaza 1. WE DENOUNCE Seoul municipal government for granting permission for the use of Seoul Plaza for the (19th) Seoul Pride event! More than 210,000 people have signed a petition on the website of the Blue House, opposing the Queer Festival taking place in Seoul Plaza. According to a recent survey of public opinion, 82.9% of Seoul residents view excessive exposure of body parts and selling of sex toys at queer-themed events as inappropriate, 67% showed negative opinions on Seoul city government granting the permission for the event to be held in the Plaza. Activities and performances that harm universal sexual ethics were openly carried out in previous queer-themed events. We strongly denounce the decision of the city government for granting a permit for another Queer-themed event to be held in Seoul Plaza - instead of imposing adequate guidelines – ignoring the voice of its citizens. 2. WE ARE CONCERNED about the participation of university student councils at the Queer Festival! We are concerned about university student councils participating in the Queer Festival. We question their legitimacy as representatives of the entire student bodies and whether they have appropriately processed the opinions of their peers democratically. Some raise concerns over student representatives of their universities’ arbitrary decision makings on their participation in queer-themed events. The opinions of many students who do not agree with queer-themed events that harm healthy sexual ethics are being ignored around many campuses. 3. WE CALL FOR respect for various opinions about homosexuality! Academic and moral opinions on homosexuality should be left to the free judgement of the individual. Condemning different opinions as "hate-speech" and disrupting ex-homosexuals and anti-homosexuality activists from speaking on-campus are serious violations of academic freedom and freedom of expression. Recently, Seoul National University Truth Forum organized a special lecture with an ex-homosexual speaker and was pressured to cancel the venue. Applying views from America and Europe, labeling different opinions about homosexuality as hatred, ignoring traditional values of Korean culture, condemning people with different views as "homophobics" and "unenlightened people" are acts of self-righteousness and a new form of toadyism and cultural imperialism. 4. WE OPPOSE the Human Rights & Gender Equality program of Seoul National University. The Seoul National University Human Rights Centre developed the 'Human Rights & Gender Equality' education program and propagated it to many universities. However, the curriculum of the course is founded on social gender concept that acknowledges dozens of sexual distinctions, disseminates one-sided gender ideology. Presently, the SNU Human Rights Centre is pushing to impose disadvantages on those who do not complete the course. The Human Rights & Gender Equality education program of SNU Human Rights Centre coerces their views on students and SNU members who find the contents of the course to be against their conscience, academical and religious beliefs under the name of human rights. Proclamation by Conservatives of the Republic of Korea We are conservatives. We believe every person is created in the image of God and has dignity. We believe in freedom with responsibility and in truth. We humbly recognize human limitations and trust divine providence. We respect experiences and results with prudence rather than utopian social engineering. It is a lesson of history that only free democracy and free market system ensure prosperity with freedom and dignity. However, the ghost of Marx is still haunting fed by hatred and anger. In South Korea, socialists with romantic nationalism have advocated for the slave-state of North Korea and denied legitimacy of the Republic of Korea established by the sincere support of Americans. Furthermore, they have incited anti-American sentiments and threatened free democracy and market economy. In the United States, socialism has been renewed among angry crowds to blind the American people with opportunistic populist policies masked in the name of ‘love’ and ‘peace’. We must confront this threat together. - 탄핵반대 서울대 집회를 방해한 극좌세력을 규탄한다! - - 극좌 반국가세력, 탄핵반대 서울대 집회 방해 - 극좌 맞불집회 신청자는 2017년 서울대 본부 폭력점거 주동자 - 사회변혁노동자당, 노동자연대, 진보당 등에 가입한 극좌 학생들이 서울대를 대변하지 못함 - 집회방해 세력은 종북, 이적단체인 대진연까지 서울대 안에 끌어들여 서울대 트루스포럼은 서울대 학생지원과에 집회신고를 하고 15일 오후 5시, 서울대 아크로에서 탄핵반대 집회를 진행할 예정이었습니다. 그런데 저희의 집회소식을 들은 좌파진영이 정당한 집회를 방해하려는 목적으로 같은 날, 같은 장소에 집회를 신청했습니다. 4시 집회를 신고한 사람은 서울대 안에서 사회변혁노동자당, 팔레스타인해방연대 활동을 이끌고 있는 인물입니다. 사회변혁노동자당은 지난 2016년 약 3개월간 서울대 본부를 폭력적 방법으로 무단 점거하고 난동을 주도한 극좌단체입니다. 당시 본부 내부엔 '성낙인(총장)을 위시한 너희 보직교수단 모두의 피로 본부를 빨갛게 물들이는 날까지 투쟁! 자본에 굴종하는 서울대 보직교수 처단! 민주노조 사수! 어용노조 분쇄! 자본주의 철폐! 사회주의 건설!' 이라는 섬뜩한 문구가 적혀 있었습니다. 이들은 자본주의 철폐와 사회주의 건설을 목적으로 하는 극좌 반국가세력입니다. 안타까운 것은 외부세력과 연결된 소수 극좌 학생들의 목소리를 서울대 일반의 목소리인양 왜곡하는 좌파 언론의 추태입니다. 비록 지난 12월 5일, 갑작스런 계엄으로 흥분한 많은 서울대 학부생들이 전체학생총회 통해 대통령 탄핵을 지지하는 결의를 채택했으나, 그 후 추진된 '윤석열 퇴진 특별위원회'의 설치는 만장일치로 부결되고 있습니다. 계엄령 이후 서울대인들의 인식이 크게 변하고 있다는 증거입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 좌경화된 언론은 사회변혁당, 노동자연대, 진보당과 같은 일부 극좌성향 학생들의 의견을 서울대의 일반적인 의견인양 호도하고 있습니다. 5시 집회가 신고된 상황에서 4시 집회를 받아 준 대학당국의 대응도 안타까운 점이 있습니다. 하지만 근본적 책임은 탄핵반대 집회가 5시에 있음을 알면서도 악의적으로 동일한 장소에 맞불집회를 신고한 극좌세력에게 있습니다. 이들 극좌세력은 저녁이 되자 종북, 이적단체인 대진연까지 서울대 안에 불러들여 난동을 부렸습니다. 이러한 일련의 상황은 지금의 탄핵사태의 본질이 대한민국을 긍정하는 세력과 부정하는 반국가세력 간의 체제전쟁임을 다시 한 번 증명하고 있습니다. 서울대 트루스포럼은 학내에서 불필요한 대치상황을 지속하는 것은 무의미하다는 판단하에, 학교측과 경찰의 권고를 수용하여 당초 계획한대로 8시에 평화적으로 집회를 마무리했습니다. 15일 집회엔 김은구 대표의 성명서 낭독과 함께 24학번 김민섭, 20학번 이서진, 이재춘 전 러시아 대사(법대59), 양선엽 전 산업자원부 실장(경영79), 최수용 전 국정원 공작관(중문84), 강승완 서울대 교수(의예92), 이진수 세이브코리아 기획위원장(경제96) 등 연설이 예정되어 있었습니다. 극좌세력의 방해로 계획된 행사가 제대로 진행하지 못해 안타까운 마음입니다. 민주주의를 빙자하며 대한민국의 정체성을 부정하는 극좌세력의 민낯을 드러낸 사건이었습니다. 서울대 트루스포럼은 추후 상황을 고려하여 적절한 시기에 위 연사들을 모시고 다시 한 번 집회를 준비하도록 하겠습니다. 함께해 주시고 응원해 주신 모든 분들께 깊이 감사드립니다. 감사합니다. 2025.02.16. 서울대 트루스포럼 대표 김은구 * 2월 17일(월) 오전 11시반, 서울대 아크로에서 학부생들이 중심이 된 '탄핵반대 시국선언'이 진행됩니다. 반대측의 거센 저항이 예상되고 있습니다. 현장에서 많은 분들이 함께 응원해 주시면 감사하겠습니다.
